Havana, Nov. 13.- The King of Spain, Felipe VI, today honors Havana historian Eusebio Leal, with the Grand Cross of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Carlos III, in the context of the 500th anniversary of this capital .
In the Palace of the General Captains, the Spanish Head of State, along with his wife Letizia, will also hand-hand-deliver the Pendón to the Museum of the City, with the coat of arms of Havana; They will receive a replica of the Giraldilla, a Havana symbol, and will make a retribution dinner, reports Prensa Latina.
The kings of that Iberian country, who complete the first official visit of a Spanish monarch to Cuba, were received this Tuesday in a solemn ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution by President Miguel DÃaz-Canel.
Both heads of state headed the signing of the Agreement for the Framework of Association Country Cuba Spain 2019-2022 in Matters of International Cooperation for Development, signed by the foreign ministers of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez, and of Spain, Josep Borrell.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement is endowed with 57.5 million euros aimed at boosting productivity growth, sustainable territorial development and the consolidation of an effective public administration.
The royal couple also inaugurated on Tuesday an allegorical photographic exhibition of the links between the two nations, at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater in Havana, where a dance show was offered in his honor.
According to the program of the visit, before traveling to the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, tomorrow, Thursday, Felipe VI and Letizia will go to the National Museum of Fine Arts to deliver, on loan, a Goya self-portrait, and will tour centers of scientific interest of the capital.
Cuba and Spain maintain important economic, commercial, investment and cooperation links, which place the European country as the third commercial partner of the island.
