Nov. 7 - The impact of the Yankee Blockade against Cuba does not prevent every day the population of this island from receiving comprehensive, free and sustained health care services, starting from the extraordinary effort of the revolutionary Government, the institutions of the sector and the personnel that make up the army of white coats.
Such a reality is felt in Florida if it is known that more than 15,000 patients are helped here every month from the different care of the Manuel Piti Fajardo municipal hospital, a local institution where, despite deficiencies and tensions, the tasks of constructive improvement and logistics for the benefit of comfort and quality of service.
The protection of the Floridian people against the blockade is also verified when the number of thousands of pesos per month is reported to guarantee the necessary medications to safeguard the lives of infants admitted to the Leopoldo Rey Sampayo pediatric hospital.
On the other hand, the Hemodialysis Room, located in the same facility, assumes one of the most human missions in the territory: the care for patients with chronic renal failure whose treatment is carried out every other day at a cost of more than three hundred pesos per session, without None of the patients have died due to the lack of a dialyzer or other essential resource for the process.
In the same way, and despite the damage of the economic, commercial and financial blockade intensified under the administration of Donald Trump, the municipality of Florida obtains first-world results in medical care, especially for the Maternal and Child Program where a significant decrease is achieved of the maternal mortality rate and in children under one year.
Undoubtedly, Yankee politics is an obstacle in the way of the people of Cuba towards development, but the will to resist and get ahead and the search for alternatives are imposed to maintain vital services and continue the resistance.
