Camilo Cienfuegos, the eternal image of the town

October 28, the streets of Florida received children, students and workers, the whole town, who walked on a pilgrimage along the central highway until they reached the creek next to the Sports Motel to deposit tribute flowers to Camilo Cienfuegos.

Camilo, that young commander of the Rebel Army that stood out for his will and courage, that guerrilla leader who never abandoned one of his comrades wounded in combat, and who was faithful to Fidel until the last moment of his life.
In Florida, an elementary school and a farmer cooperative are honored with the name of Camilo Cienfuegos, whom we identify as El Heroe de Yaguajay and El Señor de la Vanguardia.

The primary school and the peasant cooperative that are honored with his name, have the imprint of Camilo, and both the teachers and students, as well as the men and women who work every day in the field, are known followers of that tireless warrior, who together Che Guevara led the invasion and brought the revolutionary struggle to the region. Central of the country.

The Floridians went on a hike to the vicinity of the Sports Motel, a space where the cultural political act was performed with songs that evoke that tremendously large man whom we recognize as “The image of the people†and a card was given to a group of students that accredits them as members of the Young Communist Union (UJC).

This year the pilgrimage of homage to Camilo Cienfuegos gained greater dimensions, since 60 years have already separated us from the physical disappearance of the Commander of the wide smile and the alón hat.

60 years in which every October we hear his voice again declaring the verses of Bonifacio Byrne reminding us that if you throw away in small pieces it will become my flag someday ... our dead, raising our arms will still defend it!
Six decades of continuous struggle in defense of the Homeland of internal and external enemies as the man of a thousand anecdotes taught us well.

60 years after his physical death Camilo summons and inspires, so thousands of Cubans walked to the vicinity of the sea or the rivers to fulfill Che Guevara's mandate to deposit flowers that will always reach the infinity of his memory.
