Aug 23 - The first images in 14 years of the wreck of the Titanic, located in the north of the Atlantic Ocean, were captured by an international team of explorers, as reported by Atlantic Productions, one of the companies in charge of the project. The snapshots, in 4K resolution, show the current state of the shipwreck, located 3.8 kilometers deep and about 600 kilometers off the coast of Newfoundland (Canada).
The leader of the exploration, Victor Vescovo, explained that he was not prepared for the immensity of the Titanic and it was extraordinary to pass by and see the lights of his vessel reflected on it.
After five dives over eight days, experts said the ship has been visibly destroyed by sea currents, salt corrosion and metal-eating bacteria as it is located at a depth where the water temperature is around one degree Celsius.
The expedition placed a floral wreath at the site and held a ceremony in honor of those who died on the sunken ocean liner on April 15, 1912.
Atlantic Productions, winner of a Bafta award, will soon publish the results of the mission in a documentary.(Prensa Latina)
