Spanish-owned Company to Operate in Development Zone in Cuba

Havana, Feb 22 - The Spanish Capital Company Profood Service, S.A. began operations in the Special Mariel Development Zone (western Cuba) for the production and marketing of food products, beverages and dispensing machines. Profood Service, S.A.'s products, aimed at the hotel sector and the national network of shops, include concentrated juices and cocktails, cocktail drinks, liqueurs, nuts, cereals and freeze-dried products such as coffee and cocoa, ZEDM announced Thursday on Twitter.
The plant also assembles dispensing machines for some of these products and the company provides maintenance, repair and equipment replacement services, according to a note published on the Zone's website.
Located in ZEDM's Sector A food processing zone, the factory is equipped with modern technologies and highly skilled workers.
It is expected that to the maximum of its productive capacity it will have a catalogue of more than 300 products capable of producing some 26 million units per year.
The company's production processes include linking up with local companies to obtain raw materials that comply with international quality standards.
Products such as sugar, fruit pulps, cane alcohol, flour and starches are purchased in the domestic market, details the report.
Profood Service, S.A. is a subsidiary of the Spanish trading company Hotelsa Alimentación S.L., dedicated to the production and marketing of food and beverages for the hotel industry.
It has a presence in Europe and America, including Cuba, where it has 25 years of experience in supply.(Prensa Latina)
