Cuba to Display Archeological Findings from Old Convent

Havana, Apr 7 - The Castillo de la Real Fuerza Museum will exhibit as of April 23 a series of evidence from archeological research works carried out in the old Santa Teresa de Jesus Convent in this capital.

The exhibit includes pieces from 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries used by the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, who lived in the building, founded in 1702 by Bishop Diego Avelino de Compostela.
English china crockery, coins, shoes´ buckles, a carbide kerosene stove and other artifacts that belonged to the nuns are part of the exhibition.
Archeological works began in 2005, at the same time as the fitting out and restoration works. Experts have worked on ten sectors, including about 70 percent of available area, a publication from the Office of the Havana Historian reported.
