Cuban First Vice President Welcomes Vietnamese Prime Minister

Havana, Mar 26 - Cuban First Vice President Miguel DÃaz-Canel today welcomed Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

In the meeting, they both expressed their governments' willingness to strengthen bilateral ties in the areas of trade and economy as well as scientific collaboration.
They also discussed the processes of socio-economic development both countries are carrying out.
The meeting was held in the fraternal atmosphere that has historically characterized the ties between the nations' peoples, parties and governments.
Vice-President of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and other ministers and officials from both countries also participated in the meeting.
During his stay in Cuba, the Vietnamese leader will hold official talks with Cuban President Raúl Castro.
After finishing his visit, PM Nguyen Tan Dung will travel to Port-au-Prince in response to his peer Laurent Lamothe.
Cuba was the first country in the Western hemisphere to establish official ties with Vietnam on December 2nd, 1960.
