Havana, Feb 28 - Cuban President Raul Castro talked to one of the Cuban Five heroes, Fernando Gonzalez, who arrived today in this capital, after fully serving a long and unfair sentence in a U.S. prison.
Â
The meeting that took place at the International Airport Jose Marti, was also attended by Gonzalez family and other officials of the Cuban government.
Yesterday Gonzalez left the federal correctional center in Safford, Arizona and was put at the disposal of immigration services to initiate the process of deportation to Cuba, where he arrived around noon on Friday.
He is the second of the internationally known as The Five to serve the imposed sentences, after René González.
Fernando, René, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero and Ramón Labañino were arrested in 1998 for monitoring the actions of violent groups based on U.S. territory, which planned and executed terrorist actions against Cuba.
The last three are still prisoners in the United States, despite an extensive global campaign calling for their release.
