Cuban Jurists Grant Fidel Castro the National Law Prize

Cuba, feb. 28 - Cuba’s National Jurists Association granted Revolution leader Fidel Castro the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes National Law Prize, which acknowledges Fidel as an example for professionals in the legal field.
The prize was handed over to vice-president Jose Ramon Machado Ventura during the ceremony, which was also attended by Homero Acosta, secretary of the Cuban Council of State and by the president of the Jurists’ Association Migdalia Velasquez, among other authorities and personalities.
The distinction was granted to Fidel as Cuban legal workers mark the 60th anniversary of the defense statement made by the Revolution leader after he was arrested for the 1953 attack on the Moncada garrison; the historic document is known as “History will Acquit me.â€
In his remarks at the ceremony, Velasquez stressed the work of Fidel Castro in the sphere of law and his defense and support of fair causes. She also recalled passages of the life of Fidel as a lawyer.
