Cuba to Host Intl Event on Neurological Restoration Havana, Feb 22 - The 4th International Conference on Neurological Restoration will be held in Havana from March 5-7, according to organizers.

 

The event will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the International Neurological Restoration Center (CIREN), said the institution's director, Dr. Emilio Villa.

Among the topics to be debated at the forum, he mentioned neuroplasticity and neurorehabilitation, research on stem cells, neurological restoration in neurodegenerative diseases, lesions of the spinal cord, epilepsies, alterations of motor control and dementias.

Several courses will be held, including the one entitled "Scientific and Clinical Aspects of Parkinson's Disease and Cerebellous Ataxias", which will be organized by the Pan-American Section of the Society of Movement Disorders, explained Jorge Bergado, secretary of the Organizing Committee.

The 6th International Seminar on Hereditary Ataxias, organized by the Center for Research on Hereditary Ataxias, a world-renowned institution specialized in research on that disease, which mainly affects people in eastern Holguin province, will be held parallel to the event, he added.

Experts from Spain, the United States, Mexico, France, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Austria, Canada, Denmark and Turkey, among other countries, are expected to participate in the meeting.
