Havana Fair Honors Renowned LatAm Writers

Havana, Feb 17 - Renowned Latin American writers will speak today about the life and work of Puerto Rican Julia Burgos, to whom the Havana International Book Fair, FIL 2014, dedicates a panel on occasion of her 100th birthday.

The San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress in Havana, venue of the literary event, is hosting this meeting in which a volume with the complete poetic work of the author of popular texts such as "Poema para mi muerte" y "Alba de mi silencio" will be launched, thanks to Casa de las Americas' Editorial Fund.
Another important Latin American writer, Mexican Octavio Paz, will have a space in today's agenda of the most important cultural event of the Caribbean island, which will also pay tribute to the 1990 Nobel Literature prize-winner in his 100th birthday.
The Dulce Maria Loynaz Cultural Center, one of the venues of the Fair, announces for today the opening of the Meeting of Latin American and Caribbean Young Writers, who will speak about narrative techniques in the continent, the social promotion of literature, and the promotion of reading, among other issues.
Also on the list is the holding of reading tables about Latin American poetry of the 21st century, in which writers from Ecuador, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Cuba will participate.
More than 500 intellectuals, editors, translators and artists from 30 Latin American and European countries are represented in the book fair, this time with Ecuador as a guest of honor.
