Havana, Oct 30Â -Â An unprecedented Indian cultural shows in Latin America continues here today, where many people recently discovered that that one-thousand-year country is much more than the tinsel "Bollywood" sells.
Â
The Nrutyarupa show officially opened the 1st India's Cultural Festival in Cuba, with a medley of dances especially choreographed to be presented for the first time in Havana.
Rajendra Kumar Gangani, former dancer and choreographer of the piece, told Prensa Latina his excitement for the warm response received in this country, which he learned to love and longed to know since he was a child.
Rhythms such as Kathakali, Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Manipuri, Mayurbhanj Chhau, and Odissi were defended with vehemence and grace, energy and subtlety, in a musical geography class of India.
Alongside Cuban Culture authorities and Minister Rafael Bernal, India's Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari enthusiastically applauded the artists.
Ansari's presence confirms the level both governments have granted to the Festival, which aspire to learn much more in keeping with the growing economic, commercial, and political approaches.
