Translation of Classic Text by Fidel Castro Launched in France Paris, Feb 14 - Intellectuals, politicians, diplomats, and members of Cuba solidarity groups attended the launch of a translation of the book "La Historia me Absolvera" (History Will Absolve Me), by Fidel Castro, consisting of his self-defense speech at his trial in Cuba in 1953 for the attack on the Moncada garrison.

The text, translated into French lby Jacques-Francois Bonaldi and edited by the El tiempo de Cerezas publishing house, includes an important number of annexes, largely unpublished until now in France. "This volume is key to understanding the originality and strength of Fidel Castro's political thought, which has made a singular contribution, not only yesterday but also today, to the Cuban Revolution," the publishing house stated.

On July 26, 1953, on the 100th anniversary of Jose Marti's birth, a group of young revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, attacked the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrison, in Santiago de Cuba.

During the book launch held at the Alejo Carpentier hall of the Cuban embassy in France, Ambassador Hector Igarza stated that "La Historia me Absolvera" is a document of inestimable historic value.

Igarza thanked the publishing house and France for the launch of this work, coinciding with Cuba's 23rd International Book Fair currently underway in Havana.
