Foreigners Increase Wrestyling Level in Cuban Tournament

Havana, Feb 13.- The presence of foreign gladiators of today raise the quality level of the 45th international wrestling tournament Granma -Cerro Pelado.

The most backed are Peruvian Talia Mallqui, Colombian Carolina Castillo, both in the 48 kg division, and Americans Helen Maroulis and Elena Pirozhkova.
Mallqio, subchampion last year in the the lower division and gold in Pan Americans, and Castillo, continental medalist several times, will try to prevent that Cuba ratifies domain among the ladies got last year.
Meanwhile, Maroulis, world silver twice and champion in Pan American Guadalajara-2011, will compete directly in a final against Yamilka del Valle in 55 Kg.
Pirozhkova, several times medalist in Worlds Championships, World Cups and Pan American competitions in 63 kg, will do it now in 69, in a weight where she will fight against other big favorite, Cuban Candida de Armas, in the semifinal.
The event incluyes a marathon of 60 fights, 37 of them in the remaining four divisions of the Greco-Roman style, and 23 corresponding to four females.
French Beldamani Tarik (66) is the only competitor with real chances of avoiding Cubans, but the most attractive will be the return of the World and Olympic multichampion MijaÃn Lopez (130).
Lopez was out of competitions last year, and now reappears in a new division, looking to be part of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro-2016.
