LABIOFAM Presents New Products in China

Beijing, Feb 11 - Chinese experts expressed interest today in new products produced by the Cuban business group LABIOFAM, particularly those linked to the use of natural insecticides and pesticides, control of disease vectors, and peptides to fight cancer.

At a meeting organized through the Cuban embassy in Beijing ,LABIOFAM president Jose Antonio Fraga explained to participants the progress of that company since its creation in the 1960s, whose production has steadily increased.
The official stated that LABIOFAM currently exports products to 39 countries, and is in the process of signing up another 86 nations as customers.
Fraga spoke to nearly a hundred businesspeople and officials attending the meeting in China, where there is already a joint company operating in the province of Shandong.
The replacement of chemical fertilizers and insecticides through non-contaminant biological means and the effective control of crop plagues were highlighted by the LABIOFAM president. He talked of its possible effective use in this Asian country, to support policies meant to fight environmental pollution.
He also referred to the progress in anti-tumor peptide research, to destroy malignant cells without damaging healthy ones, a process which Alexis Diaz explained further to the participants, explaining the course of those studies and their positive effects.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the LABIOFAM president also talked of the importance of that research to fight cancer, a disease that is increasing worldwide, including in China.
He also said this country can begin working to produce bio-fertilizers and pesticides, and thus replace chemical insecticides in agriculture.
