Cuban Province Ready for International Book Fair

Matanzas, Cuba, Jan 27 - More than 200 titles will be available for the population of Matanzas during the 23rd International Book Fair scheduled here from February 26 to March 2, said organizers. Ulises RodrÃguez, general coordinator, told Prensa Latina the event will have a broad agenda which included presentations of volumes, conferences, talks, exhibitions and poetry readings.
"It will be dedicated to Ecuador, to the bicentennials of Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda and José Jacinto Milanés, the Centennials of Samuel Feijóo and Gaston Baquero, and the guest writer will be Nersys Felipe, National Prize for Literature", he informed.
According to the specialist, the fairgrounds will be located in the area between the streets, Jovellanos, Milanes, Rio and Callejon de la Sacristia in the historic centre of the city, 100 km East of Havana.
As novelties in this fair, are the opening and closing with literary parade from the emblematic Sauto Theatre up to the central La Libertad Park, he said.
Among the complementary activities are included the exhibition and sale of medicinal plants, a space for the oral narration and music, and a club of narrators and clowns, he added.
